Our Small Groups and Individual Ministries
offer diverse exploration:
Substance Abuse Services: Jeremy Ashton, a long term member, is employed by Rutland Mental Health at Evergreen Substance Abuse Services. That agency saw a need to have counseling services available in Fair Haven. This church has kindly offered the space. In this way, all members are contributing to a needed service in the community, as addicted people find help and support. Jeremy is available Mondays, 9am to 11:30am in the church nursery.
Bone Builders: is a free, ongoing program open to all those with concerns about osteoporosis. When followed diligently, the Bone Builders program and exercises can help the body to increase bone density and reverse the effects of osteoporosis. Meets Monday & Wednesday 1:00 – 2:00pm.
Book, Yoga and Meditation Group: Our time is structured to focus on book discussion. Currently we are reading "The Book of Joy", a dialogue between Bishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama. We seek to expand our spiritual life by having open discussion over the issues presented. We take the time to delve deeply into the book and relate its message to our personal lives. Yoga meditations allow us to integrate mind and body with the intent to achieving both stretching and a state calm serenity, letting go of issues we might be struggling with. We end with time for each person to share a personal issue that they would like to have feedback on. Meets on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am-12:00pm.
Weekly Prayer Meeting: We support each other emotionally and spiritually. Concerns for ourselves and others are brought to God in prayer by the group. In this way we share our blessings and joys as well as our struggles. Meets Tuesdays 4:00 – 5:30pm
Bible Study: We have tended to go at a slow reflective pace, hoping to gain new insights into the word of God. The Pastor has been a good resource, offering insights and historical insights that enrich our discussion. Our goal is not to cover big chunks of the Bible, but rather to dig deeply into issues we might otherwise overlook. Thursdays from 1:00-3:00pm
The 12 Steps for Christians are a gentle way to break down our journey into manageable growth steps. They are for anyone, not just “addicts”. Come and check out what this is. Over the years, a large number have participated. As we say, “we share our experience, strength and hope”. Each step in the “12 Steps for Christians” guidebook refers to scripture. Meets on Saturdays 10:30am
Plus seasonal offerings including "Dinner and a Movie" on Sunday evenings in January and February.
